About Us

Omarama, which directly translates to 'Place of Light' in English, is one of the worlds best mountain soaring destinations and internationally hailed as the 'Soaring Mecca'. The Omarama Gliding Club facilitates everything from basic training to advanced mountain soaring for experienced pilots wishing to become locals to the area. We encourage pilots from all over the globe to come and visit our incredible location and spend some time exploring the Southern Alps from a birds eye view.

The Omarama Gliding Club works in partnership with our commercial operators Glide Queenstown and Kahu Soaring to help you find a gliding experience that is tailored to your needs.
